Yesterday I focused on my baby girl, today let me take a few moments to sing the praises of my son. And just to get it out of the way, don’t get crossed on the title. He isn’t a bigger emotion joy. But he is just plain bigger. Not only is there an almost four year age difference, but my kid is just plain huge. At three he was already as tall as many of the first grade students sat the elementary school where I teach. The Mrs. and I giggle at how in our daycare our children are both the smallest and the biggest.
But he isn’t just big. He is also such a sweetie. I am constantly blown away at how much consideration he shows for others. He always wants to play with his little sister and take care of her. He wants to soothe her when she cries. And, whenever we have give him fruit for dessert, he wants to save pieces for Mommy and Daddy.
He is still four. He can be stubborn, and when we are in a hurry he has a way of slowing down to the point of molasses.
But then, he’ll see how we decorated the house for his birthday and tell us it is the most beautiful house ever and just melt out hearts.
This week, Mommy has had work seminars in the evening, meaning that almost until he fell asleep it is only Daddy tending to the castle. We still played with superheroes and balloons, but when it is just one parents taking care of all the things that need to happen in the evening, I know he wasn’t getting the attention he is used to.
Tonight, after dinner, he wanted to just curl up and watch some videos with Daddy. How could I say no? Before I knew it, sleep got the best of him.
Good night, little Superhero.
