This has been an odd week. Work has both been getting busier, but COVID is once again on the rise and we are also having to prepare for the possibility of moving online. It’s like getting an extra dollop of work icing on top of work cake.
Creatively things are going okay. Still editing and working on the main Work in Progress, but writing here. Also, started recording a podcast of me reading the books I’ve already written. Not sure if that actually helps, but I doubt it hurts. In addition, i’m trying to plan some things I want to get going in the spring. More on that later.
Mostly, I’m just trying not to think too much about numbers. Tracking views, followers, patrons, likes, etc. is a way to just kill the simple joy of writing. It is also too easy to do. Really hoping I can get two books out this year. That will quiet the voices of lack-of-progress for a little while.
Lastly, I’m hoping to lower the amount of daily update style posts and just doing on weekly post. Other days would be more short story, think-pieces, reviews, yadda yadda. That’s the hope. I could just post less, but I’m also worried that posting less will just lead to not posting. It is also too easy to go all or nothing. We’ll just hav to see.
