All this month I’ve been doing a push for more readers and more reviews as a birthday celebration for me. My birthday was yesterday and with about a week left in June there has only been one review.
I don’t want to make little of it. That anyone, a friend in this case, not only read my book but then spent time to share their thoughts with others is awesome. That this review was a 5-star one makes it all the sweeter.
I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I’m hoping for a few more reviews before the end of June, but that doesn’t take away from the joy that each individual review gives me. Not only do they help spread the word, but, well, writing is kind of lonely.
Every review serves as a reminder that people are reading my words, enjoying my stories. I guess those rare true artists are creating merely for the enjoyment of the process. There is a lot I enjoy about writing, but editing and producing the final product of a book is a slightly different task. A review reminds me that there is a reason to continue following this dream.
My birthday also saw some action happen over on my Patreon page. I’m still figuring out how to use (and pitch) my Patreon account. Getting an additional supporter was completely unexpected and a great birthday surprise.
Again, like the reviews, this serves as a great motivator and spirit lifter. It really feels like someone saying “What you are doing is worth it. Keep it up.” For that I want to express my gratitude to my Patreon supporters. Thank you very much for the encouragement.
