I’ve been reading for a long time that folk like me (writer’s/bloggers) should set up an email list serve. I’ve been putting that off for a long time now. There are a few reasons for that.
First of all, I have little idea of how to set up a list. Every new thing I add to this site is learning experience. Some of those lessons are straight forward. Some are less. setting up a list has been surprisingly difficult.
Another reason is just pure doubt. Every new thing I try comes with those voices of doubt. Who will read my book? Who will download my podcast? Who is going to sign up for an email list? But I need to ignore this voices. If I refuse to try through doubt then I might as well just shut down this page and stop writing. And that is not something I want to do.
Then there is the question of what do I do with a list serve? It is a tool but a tool I can harness. I don’t want to be too repetitive but I’m sure there will be some overlap. But I’m also hoping that in the future I can use the list serve to put out special deals and announcements. Maybe some more pictures and ideas. (Plus, plugging all the things I am currently doing.)
If any other writers out there have big hit ideas for email list serves I would love to hear them. I am hoping to make this useful both for me and for future readers. Just as soon as I learn how.
