Let’s night, after I posted my daily blog, an interesting notice came up. It turns out that yesterday was my 100th straight day with a posting on this site. Which makes today the 101st.
So far this is shaping up to be a pretty good year for me, writing wise. I finished up the first draft of a new novel and am almost finished with the first pass of edits. That is a great feeling.
And if course posting here feels like it continues to help me sharpen my skills as a writer. Most of what I post is meant to be something short that evokes a feeling. Little experiments for me to try something out. Sometimes those experiments are successful. Other times… we’ll, it is good to try.
I wonder how many of the last 30 posts have been made while holding my newborn daughter. Even as I write this (on my phone) I am sitting in our family rocking chair. She is sleeping soundly on my chest with a vice grip on my beard. All I can hope is that she keeps sleeping when I try and put her in her bed.
Back to the topic. 101 days of posting. I’ve mentioned a few times that last year was a creative black spot for me. It’s one of the other reasons that I am getting so much out of writing again this year, although I do have to occasionally fight away the negativity. One of the reasons I can stay more optimistic is that my numbers at this site are doing quite well. I don’t want to jinx anything, so I will leave it at that.
Except to say “thank you.” If you check into this site, even occasionally, it helps me feel better about devoting time to putting words in paper, and turning what pages black.
Thank you for a fantastic 101 days. Let’s see how long we can keep it rolling.
Hope to see you tomorrow.
